2007 Guardsmen Members
LizLiz
This year is my 6th year marching with Guardsmen and by far the best. I have been a British champion twice now and came third in open class last year. I love everyone involved with the guard and can definitely say I would not be who I am today without them. I owe a lot to this guard; it has taught me so much, not just about colour guard, but about respect and dedication.

This year is my 3rd season marching with guardsmen and I have enjoyed every minute that I have spent with these special and talented people. Even though I am the one that is always injured I still love every minute. Everyone here is like an extension of my family and they are always willing to help when ever you need them to! I help teach the guardsmen Nippers and I have done since they started last season.

I have only marched with guardsmen for a year and im just starting my second but everybody is really mad and funny so I felt really welcome. I love everybody here, especially Danielle she has always looked after me and she is a great friend of mine! (she excites me lol, personal joke) I have and I do enjoy every moment I am with the people from guardsmen. We worked hard last year and done really well placing third and we are hoping that we can do even better this year. I also dance at fi-steps dance school. Everybody at guardsmen is special and has their own great qualities they are truly people who have played a big part in my life and I am sure that they will always be here for me. Thanks for everything everybody has done for me and good luck for the seasons to come! Love you all Jessie xx

Most people know me by my nickname Spoon!!(Don’t ask) Im Guard Captain for Guardsmen open colourguard. I have been marching with the Guardsmen ever since I learnt how to spin which was 9 years ago!! Without Guardsmen there is no way that I would be where I am today! Guardsmen really is like a family to me!! One of our biggest achievements within the Guardsmen for me would have to be coming 3rd place in finals last year what an experience and a journey to have worked our way from just being a little junior guard to now being one of the top guards in WGUK!!

I also teach the Junior guard who are doing Queen this year. In the summer I march with Senators and this will be my 6th season with them this year! I am looking forward to this season, what a year it is going to be!!

I am a new guard member this year. I have marched winterguard before many times, but have never actually made it to a show. I love performing, dancing and singing being my favourite way to spend my time. I am the oldest member of the guard at 24, and I am marching this year to make a point to myself. Do I still have what it takes to perform? I guess only time will tell.

2007-Forever!

Amanda has taught me everything I know! Back in 1999, Amanda was the one teaching me drop spins in a cold car park. I guess that’s why Guardsmen feels like ‘home’. Everyone at Guardsmen has welcomed me with open arms and I’m enjoying colourguard more than I ever have before. This year’s show is beautiful! And check out my A-guard, they’re stars in the making!

I have been marching with Guardsmen for 8 years and it has been the best experience so far in my life.

Guardsmen to me are like a second family, without them I wouldn’t know where I would be, so thanks to everyone for all their support throughout the years. So far we have improved leaps and bounds, coming 3rd place in 2006 which is a massive improvement to us.

I also teach the juniors, and help out with Guardsmen A.

This year I won ‘most dedicated member of the year’ which I was very proud to receive.

I also march with the ‘Senators’ in the summer season. It will be my 3rd year in 2007. I really enjoy this because I have met so many different people.

Well that’s all from me guys,

My name is Lauren Mears I am 19 years old from Brighton and have been involved in guard for 11 years. I got into Guard through my older sister Jodie where she was a member of Promanarders / Reflexions and Squires Winterguard and Drum corps. Shortly afterwards I did a little bit guard for the Brighton Promanarders. After a couple of years I started of in Reflexions juniors WG 1997 and was there till 2005 where I was guard captain with my twin sister for 5 years in A class. In 2004 I decided to give DCUK a go so marched with Southern Aurora till 2005. 2005/2006 I moved to Guardsmen open from Crawley in which this will be in second season. Also in 2006 I marched with 6th Hove Scouts competing in BYBA.

‘I’m a Barbie girl’ was my 1st winterguard with squires. I taught and marched with the guard for 6 years and then joined guardsmen in 2004. My daughter Jessica was born in December 2003.

This year is very exciting, our show CCTV is amazing.

I’m also helping teach with the A-guard.

I won a bronze medal in 2006, and overall member of the year.

This year Im working really hard. I’m aiming for silver or gold and sabre of the year.

I have always followed winterguard; however this is my first year actually marching. I am extremely enjoying the experience with guardsmen, and I am glad to be here. I have marched summer guard for 5 years and also enjoy the experience. Every one at guardsmen has welcomed me, and I can’t wait for the first show!

This is my first year with Guardsmen and my first year doing winter guard. I have marched summer with 6th Hove and have been for 5 years now. I enjoy doing guard as it’s the best experience I have had. Everyone here is lovely and makes you feel really welcome. I am looking forward to the first show as I’ve never been to one before and think it will be a great experience.

Erm, these things are never easy as can not describe myself! I have been with guardsmen for 9 years although I had two years out to become a mum. Coming to guard every Sunday is a ritual, am kinda lost when we don’t have rehersal. This year is the most challenging for me really in my guard history. I love performing, I become someone else on the floor. Guard life is like an extension of my family.
